Dr Estefania Blanch
Dr Estefania Blanch obtained her university degree in Physics in 2002 at the University of Barcelona, Spain. She got the MSc. in Space Studies at the International Space University (Strasbourg) in 2006 and the Diploma of Advances Studies at the Ramon Llull University (Barcelona) in 2007 for which she was awarded by the J. García Siñeriz Foundation with the prize for the best Tutelary work of investigation of third cycle in Geophysics conducted in a Spanish or Latin American University. She obtained her PhD in Physics in 2009 at the University Ramon Llull (Barcelona) and she was awarded again by the J. García-Siñeriz Foundation with the prize for the best doctoral thesis in Geophysics Pure or Applied conducted in a Spanish or Latin American University in 2010. She was research fellow of the Ionospheric section of the Ebro Observatory from 2002 to 2008 and member of the Geomagnetic and Aeronomy Group since 2005. Since 2009 she is associate scientist of the Ebro Observatory. Her main field of expertise is Ionospheric and Geomagnetic physics for both, quiet and perturbed conditions. She has experience on modelling ionospheric characteristics for quiet and perturbed conditions and she participates very actively on the IRI improvement. She has realized several short stays at national and international research centres. She has participated in 15 national and international funded research projects (two of them as project head). She is author/co-author of 21 papers (16 of them into the SCI, one of them selected as “AGU Editor’s Choice on Space Weather”) and 47 communications in scientific meetings. She is also referee of SCI journals.
