Dr Jaroslav Chum
Dr Jaroslav Chum graduated at the Czech Technical University (CTU) in 1989. He was involved in designing satellite subsystems and ground based measurements. Since 2001, J. Chum has been involved in space plasma physics investigations with a focus on wave propagation in the Earth’s magnetosphere and ionosphere. He received Ph.D. degree in 2004 (Plasma Physics at CTU). He was involved in investigations into whistler waves, chorus emissions in the ionosphere and magnetosphere. Recently, he has mainly focused on propagation of GWs and infrasound in the ionosphere and upper atmosphere using the multi-point Continuous Doppler shift sounder. J. Chum is author or co-author of about 50 articles in international refereed journals. Dr. J. Chum is member of the Board at the Institute of Atmospheric Physics (IAP) since 2012, where he works since 1994. He is also member of the council for Science popularization at the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, and head of the department of the Upper atmosphere at the IAP since 2017. He serves as referee for JGR-Space physics, J. Atmos. Sol. Terr. Phys., Radio Science, Advances in Space Res. and other journals.
